Bauhaus

Bauhaus...
The GodFathers of Goth music...I first photoed the band on stage a few years ago on their reunion tour here in San Diego. Was awesome to see them for my first time. Wrote an article that appearred in SDMUSCIMATERS.COM and then the next thing i know DAvid J, the Bassplayer contacted me. He wanted to use one of the pictures of the show for an article in BASSPLAYER Magazine. No problems. I emailed him a few months later saying I'd love to photo him in the old b/w style I do and he liked the idea. He also asked me to photo his cabaret show in hollywood as well. I went to Hollywood to photo the cabaret performance and then the next day we were supposed to shoot. He cancelled on my 2 hours before the show. Ok she he was tired and run down from the show and I can understand that, it was quite a show. Its been a few months and he finally got back in touch with me and asked me to photo some promo shots for an upcoming play he has written about Edie Sedgewick, a play based on her life around the Silver Factory, Andy Warhols Studio. I also got a few old style b/w shots I wanted and the shot above is my favorite of that set. the promo pics I can't show until after the opening of the play. Two Lights, one diffused one not.

My other fetish...is fetish....

I also do fetish and bondage photography, one of my favorite subjects to do. I am going to be published in the next issue of Secret Magazine. I and also on the back cover of the new magazine, with a nice image I took a year ago of a girl named Lotti. The Girl to the left is Geisha Le Vampe, and 24/7 living submission who was kinda enough to pose for me. The girl on the right is Lotti and the mock up of the new Secret Magazine back cover.

Day off? Not...

I do IT stuff for a living, and lately I have tried to take it a bit easy, I work workaholically,a nd i edit photos the same way. I sit for hours in ront of my monitor and it's no wonder why my back is always in pain.
So I said I was going to try to take it easy today, knowing that probably noone would call for IT stuff, and what do I do? I edit pics from last nights shoot. The guy at the left is Ted, or ....Terra Worlock, he's an old friend whom I ave known for about ...14 years now. He's a psychic, and he needed some headshots and wanted some cool images for his myspace page. So I did what I do best, and brought out my ghetto lighting(strobes) and proceeded to combine ambient light with the strobe to get the desired shadowing and hilights. I shot in RAW, and then pulled htem into PS and messed around with the color tones, desarurated and injected some black in to the colors. I like how it came out....Ted hasn't seen them yet but i htink he will like them too. He wanted somethign sorta Matrix looking, I always liked their poster work so thats what I set out to do...

My Fetish

I have an eyelash fetish. I fell in love with the works of George Hurrell about 3 years ago. I started to study this mans lighting and became obsessed with eyelashes and veiled hats with netting. The Lighting, the shadows, the beautiful ladies, the eyelashes. Hurrell shot Joan Crawford in one shot where her eyelashes went halfway down her face. I LOVED it. I foudn out in my extensive research of Hurrell that eh actually edited the photo to make the lashes longer than they really were! Backin those days, there was a lot of heavy post production, on the negative. Not in photoshop. They didn't have PS back then. Hurrells job as the job of the retouchers back then was to make Movie stars GLAMOROUS, and by were they! I hate/ed retouching my images, and some ladies said please retouch my pictures, and I would, reluctantly. I wanted my images to come out that good straight outta the camera. Well I soon learned that just wasn't going to happen. At least not wiht some of the acne scarred lovelies I photo. I have come to terms wiht my love hate relationship of retouching and have actually come to like it. Sometimes though, I don't retouch them as sometimes now they DO come out like that straight outta the camera, but rarely. This lovely young Lady came from sacramento to shoot wiht me one weekend, her name is Heidi. a wonderful woman who is NOT a model perse' but a girl who wanted pretty pictures of herself. One of my favorite ladies to work with. I think I'll email her and have her come shoot with me again.
